How do you entry a CS2 bombsite without dying first
The first player into a site should create a winnable fight, not donate a body to every angle at once.
You entry a CS2 bombsite without dying first by making the site show you one problem at a time. That means utility lands before your feet cross the choke, your crosshair is already on the first real fight, and your teammate is close enough to trade if the duel goes wrong.
What is the entry's real job?
The entry's job is not to top frag. The job is to break the first layer of the site so the rest of the hit can happen. Sometimes that means getting the opening kill. Often it means pulling the crosshair of the anchor, forcing a rotation, clearing a close corner, or dying in a place where the second player wins the trade instantly.
Think about Mirage A from ramp. A bad entry wide-swings out, sees ticket, stairs, default, sandwich, triple, and jungle in the same second, then complains that nobody traded. A better entry uses the smoke and flash plan to reduce the list. CT is smoked, stairs is pressured by a teammate or molotov, close ramp is cleared first, then default and triple become the fight.
That is the difference between courage and waste. You can be first without sprinting into six possibilities.
Which fight should you take first?
Take the fight that can kill you first and that your team cannot remove with utility. This is why entry routes must be specific. "Go A" is not a route. "I clear close right, swing default, you trade from ramp" is a route.
On Inferno B, the first fight may be close banana, sandbags, or boosted over half-wall depending on the control you already have. Once you reach the site hit, a coffins smoke and CT smoke change the entry's job. You may need to clear new box and first oranges before worrying about dark. If your crosshair jumps between all of them, you are not entrying. You are searching while exposed.
On Ancient A through main, the first concern might be close main or donut pressure if the CTs have shown that habit. If temple is smoked and a teammate is wrapping from mid, you do not need to clear temple by hand on the first step. You need to clear the angle that can stop the plant or kill the trader behind you.
The clearing angles guide is the base skill here. Entrying is just clearing under a clock with teammates attached to your movement.
What utility has to land before you go?
At least one piece of utility should remove a fight you do not want to take dry. The exact grenade depends on the site, but the principle does not change.
- A smoke blocks a long sightline such as CT, jungle, heaven, or cave.
- A flash lets the entry cross the open part of the choke without fighting a full-vision anchor.
- A molotov clears a position that is awkward to check while moving, such as close cubby, back site, or a common off-angle.
- An HE can make a close defender move, but it should not replace a flash when vision is the problem.
Do not wait for perfect lineups in a solo queue round where the team is already walking in. A simple flash thrown high enough to pop behind the entry's shoulder may be better than a textbook smoke thrown too late. The useful question is: what does this grenade let the first player ignore for the next two seconds?
The utility guide is worth using as a filter. Learn fewer grenades, but know exactly which fight each one deletes from the entry path.
How close should your trader be?
Close enough to see the killer before the killer resets. In CS2, trade spacing is not a vibe. If the second player is three seconds behind, the first player was not traded; they were spectated.
For most site hits, the trader should be within a short burst of movement, with a different angle of vision. On Mirage A, if the entry swings default from ramp, the trader can be behind and slightly wider, ready for the same defender. On Nuke upper, if the entry drops hut, the trader cannot still be outside squeaky waiting for a feeling. On Vertigo A, if the first player scales ramp after the smoke, the second player must be ready to punish the sandbags or site swing.
The trader should not stand on the entry's back. Two players in one straight line can both die to the same spray. The spacing is close in time, not identical in path.
What should you call before you entry?
Call your first two actions, not your whole dream round. "Flashing over, I clear close left, trade me." That sentence tells the support player when to throw, tells the second player what you are checking, and tells everyone else that the hit is starting.
Good entry calls are practical:
- "Smoke CT, then I go." The team knows the entry waits for that smoke.
- "Flash above me now." The support player has a timing cue, not a vague request.
- "I am not clearing back site." Another player now owns that angle.
- "Plant after default is clear." The bomb carrier knows what condition matters.
Bad entry calls are emotional. "Someone trade me" after you are already dead is not a plan. "Why are we waiting" does not create timing. "Go go go" can work for a rush, but it gives no information about what the first player will actually do.
If your team struggles with this, send them to the CS2 hub after the match rather than lecturing mid-round. The Counter-Strike 2 page frames entry, utility, and aim application as one connected problem.
How do you know whether your entry was good?
Do not judge only by survival. A good entry can die and still win the round if the death gives an immediate trade and site space. A bad entry can get a kill and still lose the hit if they chase into spawn, leave the bomb behind, or expose the team to three uncleared angles.
Review the moment your model breaks. Pause the demo as you cross the choke and ask four questions:
- Which angle was my crosshair on?
- Which angles could see me at that exact moment?
- What utility was active?
- Was my trader close enough to kill the player who killed me?
The demo review guide helps keep that review honest. You are not looking for proof that your teammates failed you. You are looking for the first decision that made the death hard to trade.
Entrying well is controlled aggression. You decide the first fight, make the second player useful, and leave the bomb a site that can actually be planted. If you cannot name the first angle, the utility covering the second, and the teammate trading the duel, you are not entrying yet. You are just first.
