How should you hold Mirage A site as a CS2 CT side?
Mirage A defence works when each CT owns a lane, survives first contact, and rotates only when the attack has committed.
You should hold Mirage A site as a CS2 CT side by splitting the defence into jobs: one player controls ramp and palace contact, one player supports from connector or jungle, and the rotator arrives only after the hit is real. The goal is not to win a hero duel on the first shoulder peek, but to slow the attack, keep crossfires alive, and make the Ts spend utility before they see a clean fight.
What is the basic A setup?
A stable default is one anchor near ticket, triple or under balcony, one connector-side player who can help A or mid, and one short or window player ready to rotate through jungle. That gives A enough presence without leaving B alone. If your team has no mid control, the A players must respect connector splits. If your mid players are winning space, the A anchor can focus harder on ramp and palace.
Ticket is strong because it sees ramp crosses, can fall behind cover, and can be helped by jungle. It is weak once smoke blocks vision and a T gets close to default. Triple is stronger for fighting after the smokes land, but worse if you are isolated by flashes. Under balcony punishes careless entries, but it dies badly if palace is cleared with a molotov and a second player swings ramp at the same time.
Do not pick a position because it got you two kills last round. Pick it because it matches what your team controls right now.
How should ticket and stairs work together?
Ticket and stairs should not stare at the same ramp line for the whole round. Ticket can hold the wide ramp swing or the cross to default. Stairs can watch palace, hold over the smoke edge, or drop into jungle support. If both players watch ramp, palace becomes free. If both players watch palace, a ramp pop can flood site before anyone shoots.
The clean version is simple:
- Ticket starts on ramp contact and looks for early utility.
- Stairs or jungle listens for palace and watches connector pressure.
- If ramp smokes bloom, ticket falls into a narrower fight instead of spraying through grey.
- Stairs decides whether to fight over the smoke, flash ticket, or stay alive for the retake.
The ticket player should call what they cannot see. "A smoke, no vision ramp" is useful. "They are A" is often too early. A single smoke at ramp can be a fake, a lurk setup, or a late execute. The difference is bodies, sound and follow-up grenades.
Where does the anchor stand after the smokes land?
Once the A execute starts, the anchor needs a position that answers one question: can I get at least one fight without being traded instantly? If the answer is no, move before the smoke finishes blooming.
Behind default or triple, you are playing for close site fights. Your crosshair should be at the edge where Ts emerge from ramp smoke or palace drop, not floating between both. At ticket, you are playing to delay and survive. Fire a tight burst at the cross, drop behind cover, then force them to clear you while the jungle player rotates in. Under balcony is a trap position unless your teammate is ready to fight with you. Alone, it gives you surprise once and then a hard trade.
The biggest mistake on Mirage A site is re-peeking through your own panic. You see three players cross, miss the first spray, and swing again because it feels wrong to hide. That second peek usually gives the Ts the entry they needed. Survive, call numbers, and make them clear the site while your team moves.
When should the mid player rotate to A?
The mid player should rotate when the attack has committed to A, not when the first flash pops over ramp. Commitment looks like multiple bodies crossing, palace drop, bomb seen, or connector pressure paired with A utility. Without those signs, the mid player should hold the lane that stops the round from collapsing.
Connector is the hinge of Mirage. If the connector player abandons it too early, the Ts can walk out mid, kill jungle, and turn the A defence into a sandwich. If they stay too long after bomb is crossing default, the A anchor dies alone. The better rule is to rotate one step at a time. Move from connector to jungle. From jungle, decide whether to fight site, hold CT, or save your utility for the retake.
Use short calls:
- "Two ramp, bomb not seen."
- "Palace out, bomb A."
- "I am jungle, holding connector."
- "Flashing over site, play off it."
Those calls tell the rotator what space exists. Long speeches arrive too late.
How do you stop the A split?
The A split is dangerous because the site player sees ramp while connector or jungle gets hit from mid. To stop it, your mid control and A hold must fit together. If your window player loses mid early, the A players should expect connector pressure and avoid positions that expose their back. If your team still owns top mid, the A anchor can commit more attention to ramp and palace.
Against a connector split, jungle is often more valuable than stairs. From jungle you can watch connector, help ticket, and fall to CT for the retake. From stairs you can get a strong duel, but a single connector player can trap you. If you do play stairs, ask for a teammate to hold connector or smoke it.
Utility should remove choices. A molotov under palace slows the drop. A smoke at ramp buys time. A flash from jungle lets ticket peek after the Ts think the execute has started. Learn a small set properly rather than guessing lineups mid-round. The utility guide is the right place to tighten that part.
What should you review after the match?
Review only the A rounds where the site fell. Ask whether your first position matched team control, whether you fought with a teammate, and whether the rotation happened before or after commitment. Do not mark every lost duel as bad aim. A duel from ticket while blind, isolated and exposed to palace was already a bad fight.
For the mechanical pieces, use the peeking guide and angle clearing guide. For broader map work, the CS2 hub is the better starting point. Mirage A is not held by memorising one spot. It is held by making ramp, palace, connector and jungle work as one defence.
